CYCLING IN YLLÄS

Ylläs is the perfect place for cycling enabling you to explore the beautiful surroundings by bike, you can choose from either mountain biking on the Ylläs fell or more gentle routes along the picturesque forest and village roads.

There are a number of exciting routes to choose from offering different durations to suit a variety of fitness levels.

Mountainbiking inside the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park is allowed only on the marked routes. The long waited Ylläs-Levi MTB trail which goes through the national park opened on 18th of July 2015.

Maps of the cycle and MTB trails are available to help you plan your route; these can be bought from the Tourist Information. If you are not sure where to start, below are a few suggestions for some good routes.

1. The villages of Ylläs
Äkäslompolo-Ylläsjärvi-Luosu-Hannukainen-Äkäslompolo.

Length approximately 50 km. Water areas, forests and beautiful village scenery.

2. Around Ylläs along the highways
Ylläs-Lainio-Totovaara-Aakenusjoki-Tiurajärvi-Ylläs.

Length approximately 100 km. Northern scenery in its beautiful essence.

3. Pakasaivo (Hell of Lapland)
Äkäslompolo-Hannukainen-Pakasaivo-Hannukainen-Äksälompolo

Length approximately 57 km.

Cycle hire is available locally in both villages.
